Violence is preventable, not inevitable™

Firearms are major contributors to crime and societal violence - they are used in forty percent of homicides worldwide. Gun violence is one of the two leading causes of death for young people across the United States. Guns cause more deaths of young people than cancer, AIDS, heart disease or vehicle crashes. The prevalence of small arms misuse, both in conflict and crime, contributes to major economic costs, reduced economic opportunities and human suffering.

The mission of the Art of Peace Charitable Trust (AOPCT) is to prevent and eradicate the proliferation of small firearms and weapons of destruction through innovative and durable approaches to arms reduction. In partnership with law enforcement and government agencies, AOPCT collects street weapons, processed decommissioned nuclear missile casings, land mines, parts of cluster bombs and other arms, melts them down and casts epic, inspirational sculptures called Peace Angels from the molten metal mixture, using a unique proprietary process.

The magnificent Peace Angel sculptures will be installed in significant locations as powerful symbols of the transformation of our civilization from a culture of violence to a culture of peace and man's ability to overcome irreconcilable differences. These sculptures are created to endure in perpetuity as cultural icons of peace, generating a velocity of action and of hope for humanity, while representing mankind's commitment to peace in our time.

International Day Of Peace

Arms for Peace! The Peace Angels Project within the Art of Peace Charitable Trust wants destroyed weapons for the creation of two Peace Angel monuments in New York and Los Angeles.  Each monument will be a testament to the horrific damage weapons do to the lives of people – and the peace and beauty that can be created from the same metals recycled for good.

Contact your local government or law enforcement agency to schedule a weapons collection on the UN International Day of Peace, Tuesday, September 21st.  All arms brought to safe spaces with an amnesty program will be melted down and transformed into Peace Angel monuments to herald a new era of peace. The weapons collection should include a local ceremony to highlight the International Day of Peace. For instructions on how collected weapons may be received, click here. (Simon, the above should be posted at the websites below to click onto our website.)

“And they shall beat their swords into plow shares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” – Isaiah 2:4

All arms brought to safe spaces with an amnesty program need to be melted or destroyed completely locally under legal supervision. The weapons collection should include a local ceremony to highlight the International Day of Peace.

Destroyed weapons should be marked as material for the Peace Angel and sent to:
